Handicap Method
Handicaps are based on scoring history at the BD Invitational. New player handicaps will be based on adjusted scoring on other courses adjust for differences in Course Rating and Slope.
Handicap Calculation are as follows:
1st year players will have their handicap determined by their official GHIN Index with 3 strokes added for course difficulty and course unfamiliarity. This assumes selection of the Forward Tees. A player selecting the Regular Tees, 3 more strokes will be added (Index +6). A player selecting the Senior Tees than 5 strokes will be subtracted (Index -2).
After one year the lowest 3 scores of the 4 will be used.
After two years and beyond, the lowest 6 scores 8 will be used.
Our standard handicap calculation is : (Average Score -70) times .9.
Handicaps for players changing Tee Boxes:
A player moving from the Regular Tees to the Forward Tees will have his handicap reduced by 3 or added if moving back.
A player moving from the Forward Tees to the Senior Tees will have his handicap reduced by 5 or added if moving back.
After a Tee Box change, the second year handicap will be based on the first year, 3 of 4 as if a new player. We will considerthe year previous as adjusted by the 3 or 5 strokes.
Note: The decision of 3 and 5 strokes is based on an analysis of USGA Course Rating and Slope for the courses we are playing. This will not seem fair to all players for all courses but it is done with the best information available.
For handicap purposes, returning players who have missed the previous 3 years will be treated as new players.
No player is allowed to change tees within the same year, only between.
